About Housekeepers

Happy home childcare is not only expert in providing dedicated childcare staff, but also excels in providing housekeepers and nanny-housekeepers, as well as house managers who, in part, take over the running of your household. Our candidates come from various backgrounds, with a fair proportions coming from the Philipines. However, we only take on experienced candidates with verifiable references. Unfortuantely, we sometimes come across some really great people, but for one reason or another we cannot check their history and so cannot and do not put them forward.

Nanny/housekeepers

A housekeeper takes charge of the running of the household and/or look after children.

House work provided:

  • Most of our Nannies / Housekeepers come from Philipines. They are exceptionally great applicants as many of them come with at least 4 years experience as domestic workers in Hong Kong. Many of them have worked for European Families. Away from their families, they are very accustomed to Western European way of life and cuisine. Philipino nannies tend to be very loyal - we have applicants who have stayed in the same job for 15 years.
  • Philipinos are generally very hard workers, In Hong Kong, they work 60 hours per week providing childcare as well as housekeeping.
  • They have good English
  • They are not drivers, but most of them would be happy to learn in the UK
  • They are respectful
  • As they all have at least 4 years experience, they have the ability to understand the needs of the household without constant instructions from the employer.
  • Generally prepared to stay in the UK for at least 12 months
  • Have good spoken and written English
General Duties expected from Nanny/Housekeeper
  • Taking care of household duties: cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, etc to a very high standard
  • Washing, ironing
  • May need to help with gardening
  • If living with an elderly person duties like bathing, helping with dressing and feeding might be needed
  • Ability to cook well
  • Shopping
  • Childcare, babysitting
  • Driving if needed
Working hours:
  • 50 hours +
Free time
  • 1 1 to 2 days a week
Salary:
  • Live in: £300 - 400
  • Live out: £350 - 450
Accommodation and food:
  • Employer will provide for Housekeeper own room. Usually with TV, radio, own bathroom.
Contract:
  • Every Housekeeper shall receive a contract from her employer. Shall be entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday, her tax and NI shall be paid.

Process of recruitment:
Every applicant shall provide us with following:
  • CV
  • References from previous employers
  • Proof of address
  • Pictures
  • Police check ( if already in UK, we require CRB Check)
Once we receive needed documents we will start sending documents to a potential employer . We might contact applicants or their agencies abroad if we not sure about suitability of vacancy to discuss details. If family shows interest , we arrange a telephone interview. If both sides are happy with conditions, then we wait for written acceptance confirmation letter from family. It is advisable not to do any travel arrangements before Happy Home Childcare receives this confirmation. Candidate shall also receive a contract signed by employer as well as other documents needed for visa procedure.
