Happy Home Childcare Paediatric First Aid course
This course is ideal for anyone working in or with a desire to work in a professional childcare environment. It is also suitable for parents, grandparents and baby sitters. This course meets the requirements of OFSTED for childcare professionals and is recognised by the National Childminding Association & PreSchool Learning Alliance. The course also meets the recommendations of the Health & Safety Executive for the Appointed Person in the Workplace certificate.
Aims of the course
In particular the programme will enable the student to:
- Assess the scene of an accident for dangers
- Perform several life saving techniques for adults / children and babies including resuscitation
- Identify and treat childhood illnesses
- Understand the 999 system
Course Content
- Adult / Child and Baby resuscitation & CPR
- Serious bleeding / wounds and shock management
- Adult / Child and Baby control of choking
- Anaphylactic shock and use of Epi pens
- Illnesses including epilepsy / diabetes / poisoning and asthma
- Recovery Position
Duration
This course is delivered over 12 hours. We maintain the quality of the training by keeping group sizes to a maximum of 12 per instructor; this allows individual feedback to be received throughout the course.
Assessment
Individuals undertake both an informal written and practical assessment of their skills. Upon successful completion individuals will be awarded a paediatric appointed person certificate, which is valid for tree years.
