Requirements
At Happy Home Childcare, we make sure we don’t offer applicants for positions that they are unqualified or inexperienced for. Therefore, we have set out some minimum requirements:
Unqualified nannies
need at least 3 years of full time experience in childcare. The experience must be proved by checkable references.
Qualified nannies
need at least 1 years experience of working as a mothers help, which again must be proved by checkable references. The qualifications attained must be of a certain level, such as DCE/NNEB etc.
If you don’t meet the above, but are still passionate about a career in childcare, we would look to see if you could work as a Mother’s Help. For this position, we require applicants to have at least a certificate in child care education and/or 1 year of experience.
If you would like to do some formal training, but are unsure of which course is suitable, we can help you by discuss the available options.
There is increasingly more visibility around the checking of nannies, and we think this is a good thing, both for families and nannies. We aim to be one of the most thorough agencies with regards to checks. This doesn’t mean that you have to be a straight A student with impeccable (although it certainly helps). It does mean, however, that you need to be able to show your history in detail with proof.
And so, what we reuire for our vetting process includes the following:
- 2 proofs of ID (passport, driving licence, birth certificate), one of which must have a recent picture.
- Originals of all child care related qualifications.
- Employment references including proof. For these, we require a landline number and address, and proof of employment in the form of a payslip or P60, or a copy of your contract with your past employer.
- Original of a valid first aid certificate.
- A valid CRB check for enhanced disclosure.
- Original of your Nanny insurance.
- Medical Certificate.
If there are any items in the list above that you do not possess, such as first aid certificate or insurance, or think you will have trouble obtaining, such as reference details of a an old employer perhaps from another country, please talk to us about it, and we will advise you if and how it can be resolved.
